Romanee - Le Cormoran

As a family of five (Mum, dad and kids ages 12, 9 & 7yrs) we've just finished a week's camping at Le Cormoran. We stayed on a premium pitch. First the pros: - It is surrounded by pine forests, 10mins walk to beach and 15mins walk to Are-En-Re (beautiful place with lovely market and restaurants). - The pool, bar area and games facilities are excellent. Lots of sunbeds available, so no need to worry there. - Pool/bar staff are friendly. - Evening entertainment was good and varied. Now the cons: - For a 'Premium Pitch', the area to put your tent is small. Once pitched we had to move our car to the main car park, or there would have been no room for the family opposite us. - Mosquitos! No reviews seem to mention this and, whilst not unique for this site, they are a problem. Early mornings and evenings around the tent we were bitten continuously. We had insect spray and a candle but seemed to make little difference. - Reception staff can be inefficient and unhelpful (with the exception of Oriane, who is lovely). When the gas canister for our BBQ ran out we had to a ask 3 times before a replacement arrived. When a parcel for us from the UK was delivered to reception they said categorically it wasn't there (it was), and so it went on... Nothing huge but lots of annoying niggles during the stay. - Worst of all is Le Cormoran's ludicrous insistence for an 'Inspection' before we were allowed to leave site. Our booking confirmation clearly said, check out anytime before noon. However, 2 days prior to departing we received an email saying we had to book an inspection slot or face a fine... When I asked about this the only slot remaining was 9:20am. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't seem reasonable to expect a family of 5 people to take down a tent, clean shower/kitchen area and ready to be off site at that hour of day??? As it happens, on the day in question it poured with rain, making things even more difficult for all involved. Let's just say it left a sour taste and leave it at that... Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed our time at Le Cormoran but just a good stay could have been made so much better with a few simple tweaks. * Note to the site, if you are worried about damage from your tenants why not charge a refundable security deposit of say €100, rather than persist with this ridiculous 'inspection' policy?
